The Union of Socialist Youth declares its full solidarity with the Venezuelan people in the face of the military aggression launched by the United States of America. We are witnessing yet another episode of imperialist policy which, under false pretexts and moralizing narratives, once again resorts to armed force to impose its economic and geopolitical interests.
Venezuela is not an isolated case, but another victim of a well-known pattern: sanctions, destabilization, propaganda, and ultimately military intervention. The rhetoric of “democracy,” “security,” or “humanitarian intervention” cannot conceal the brutal reality of a system that treats sovereign states as mere obstacles to the accumulation of power and resources. This is not about the rights of the Venezuelan people, but about oil, influence, and submission.
The Union of Socialist Youth firmly stands on the side of peoples who defend their right to self-determination. We condemn any violation of the sovereignty of the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela and categorically reject the logic according to which military force can decide the future of a nation. International law and the UN Charter are not decorative formulas, but fundamental principles that are today being cynically violated by the great powers.
We do not defend a particular government or leader, but a basic principle: no people should be forced to choose its leadership under the threat of bombs, blockades, or external sabotage. Historical experience shows us that such interventions do not bring freedom, but destruction, poverty, and dependency.
We call on young people in Romania to look beyond war propaganda and the oversimplified messages promoted by the dominant media. Aggression does not become legitimate simply because it is packaged in the language of “Western values.” From our own history, we know what the loss of sovereignty and the imposition of decisions from outside truly mean.
The Union of Socialist Youth reaffirms its commitment to the anti-imperialist struggle and to international solidarity among peoples. We believe that the resistance and unity of the Venezuelan people will prevail, and that our duty is to stand with those who defend their dignity and their right to decide their own future.
