În ziua de 5 Mai 2022 a pornit al doilea lea val de proteste organizat de Sindicatul Transporturilor din București, urmandu-le pe cele din ianuarie. Un reprezentant al Uniunii Tineretului Socialist a participat la protest pentru a se solidariza cu manifestatia muncitorilor și a afla mai multe despre condițiile, abuzurile, si revendicarile acestora. Pichetarea a fost anunțată de pe 29 aprilie, iar motivatia principala a fost solidarizarea cu cei peste 222 de angajati concediati abuziv in saptamana de dinainte de Paste. Cartel ALFA s-a solidarizat de asemenea mișcării.
Cei 2 reprezentanți principali ai oamenilor adunați la manifestație, care au format în Martie Uniunea Federativa ce coaguleaza mișcarea națională la nivel sindical din zona serviciilor publice, au fost Vasile Petrariu, Președintele Federatiei Sindicatelor din Transporturi și Servicii Publice România și de asemenea Președintele Sindicatului Transporturilor din București, și Ioan Zbârnea, Președintele Federației Transporturilor și Serviciilor Publice din România (similitudinea numelor implica poate o inevitabilitate in aceasta uniune). Acesta dintâi a declarat că singurul partid care i-au susținut în toate demersurile a fost AUR, ceea ce ar trebui sa fie o critică dureroasa pentru lipsa unei mișcări de stanga populare în România care să susțină mișcările sindicale. Protestul, unde au participat mai mult de 1000 de oameni, mulți veniți din toată țara, a început la sediul STB S.A. iar apoi a tranziționat într-un marș spre Guvern unde aceștia au depus un memoriu legat de situația lor și unde au continuat manifestația.
Protestul a fost organizat după eșecul negocierilor sindicaliștilor cu directorul general al Societăţii de Transport Bucureşti, Adrian Criţ, pentru a anula desfacerea nedreapta a contractelor de munca. În cadrul manifestației aceștia au scandat demiterea directorului. Pe bannerele protestatarilor se găseau următoarele mesaje: “În mod individual suntem o picătură, Impreuna suntem un ocean”, “Vrem condiții de munca decente”, “Nu suntem sclavi!”, “Ne concediati ca sa va razbunati”, “Ați distrus familiile noastre pentru interesele voastre”.
George Simion, presedintele AUR, a fost prezent la protest pentru a confisca miscarea sindicala în propriile interese politice, totuși populismul sau reacționar s-a manifestat vulgar prin aruncarea de ofense la adresa directorului, facandu-l “gunoi” și spunand ca își angajează amante, acesta apoi a făcut un selfie cu cativa simpatizanți și de asemenea nu s-a abtinut din a face scandal nejustificat in fata jandarmilor.
Majoritatea manifestanților au preferat să nu discute despre nemulțumirile lor cu reprezentantul nostru, acesta fiind de cele mai multe ori directionat către liderii sindicali. Unii totuși și-au spus necazul față de condițiile precare de muncă, de vechimea aparaturii care nu doar ca pericicliteaza muncitorul, dar și oamenii pe care-i transportă, de nivelul slab de salarizare, și de lipsa zilelor pauză de muncă, majoritatea muncind săptămâni consecutive cu ore lungi de lucru. Printre acestia a fost si Paul, muncitor la mentenanta mijloacelor de transport, care, in ciuda interventiei chirurgicale recente, a venit să se solidarizeze cu tovarășii de muncă. Acest om al muncii a dat dovada in discutiile purtate de conștiința de clasă faţă de situaţia sa de muncitor, in propriile sale cuvinte a numit situatia ultimelor decenii “dictatura neoliberala”, a descris cum in ciuda problemelor existente inainte de ’89 drepturile de munca erau mai bune și era lucid de pericolul politizării nocive a mișcării sindicale. Pe final acesta l-a adus în discuție pe Lenin, fiind pesimist fata de posibilitatea unui caracter similar in contextul istoric actual, context care devine din ce în ce mai exploatator pentru clasa muncitoare. Alt muncitor Bogdan, șofer de autobuz proaspăt șomer, purta la gat o pancartă cu mesajul “concediat abuziv”, pentru că a lipsit 6 zile de la serviciu alăturandu-se colegilor săi la greva din ianuarie, în ciuda istoricului de munca impecabil timp de 28 ani. Acesta a descris nenumărate cazuri similare numind acțiunea președintelui Crit o concediere colectivă ilegitimă si fiind ferm convins că va câștiga în instanță. În plus a adăugat faptul că noile substituții au fost angajate pe contract determinat de 6 luni, lucru ce implica incertitudinea conducerii în legătură cu decizia luată și degradarea puterii patronale comparativ cu cea sindicală.
Greva e un element esențial unei democrații funcționale iar acuzațiile de ilegalitate doar denotă inabilitatea sau ipocrizia unora din clasa politică de a înțelege că statul de drept curent e doar o unealtă pentru capitaliști în a media conflictele cu clasa muncitoare și a disciplina forța de muncă. Cum spunea și Costi Rogozanu “Lucrătorii au stat 30 de ani cu capul la cutie, cuminți, ca să se îndeplinească visul capitalist. Uitați-vă la visul peștelui prăjit în București. Nu tu apă, nu tu țevi, cartiere construite d-amboulea de investitori, sufocare cu mașini mici și centrale de apartament, transport public făcut praf”. Uniunea Federativă proaspăt formată reprezinta 30 000 de membrii din domeniile serviciului public, avand oameni în majoritatea orașelor din România. STB are peste 9000 de membrii din 11200 de angajați. Minciunea neoliberală se împiedică din ce în ce mai mult și astfel de răzvrătiri a clasei muncitoare vor deveni din ce in ce mai vizibile si din ce în ce mai potente. Aceasta concediere in masa nu este altceva decat o incercarea esuata de a sparge miscarea sindicala, de a intimida muncitorii, în ciuda faptului ca directorul a spus în luna martie că este deficit de personal. Oportunismul partidului AUR nu reprezinta decat o acaparare a mișcării pentru interese proprii, ducand în cel mai bun caz la un coup d’etat capitalist cu minime îmbunătățiri pentru muncitori, care vor fi erodate în timp ca de fiecare dată. Astfel de mișcări vor lua amploare și e nevoie de o mișcare socialistă revigorată pentru a se opune forțelor reacţionare și pentru a împuternici clasa muncitoare într-un viitor echitabil și sustenabil pentru toți.

On the 5th of May 2022 a second wave of protests started, organised by the Bucharest Transportation Syndicate, following the strikes that happened in January. A Socialist Youth Union representative participated at the protest in order to show solidarity with the workers and also to find out more about the conditions, the abuses, and their demands. The rally was announced on the 29th of April with the main reason of showing solidarity with the over 222 employees fired abusively in the week before Easter. Cartel ALFA, the biggest Federation of Unions in Romania, also supported the movement.
The 2 main representatives of the people gathered at the manifestation, which in March formed the Federative Union coagulating the public services national union movement, were Vasile Petrariu, the President of the Federation of the Syndicates in Transportation and Public Services Romania and also President of the Bucharest Transportation Syndicates, and Ioan Zbârnea, the President of the Federation of Transportation and Public Services Romania (the similarity in the names maybe has an element of inevitability in this union). The former declared that the only party which supported them in all their endeavours were AUR, the recent ultranationalist with neo-legionaries (neo-fascists) leaders party, which is a painful blow for the lack of any mass leftist movement popular in Romania to support the union movements. The Protest, which gathered more than a 1000 people from all over the country, began at STB S.A. office, transitioning afterwards into a march to the Government building where they deployed a memorandum of their grievances and where they continued their manifestation.
The protest was organised after the failed negotiations of the syndicalist with the general director of the Bucharest Transportation Society (STB), Adrian Crit, to counteract the unjust and abrupt cancellation of their work contracts. During the rally the workers were shouting for the resignation of the director. On their banners one could see the following messages: “Individually we are a drop of water, together we are an ocean”, “We want better working conditions”, “We are not slaves”, “Our work destitution is your retribution”, “You destroyed our families for your own interests”.
George Simion, the neo-legionary president of AUR, was present at the manifestation to confiscate the syndicalist movement for his own political interests, nonetheless his reactionary populism manifested itself vulgarly by throwing tasteless categorizations towards the directory, such as “garbage” and “mistress-hiring”, after which he took a selfie with some sympathisers and also he could not abstain from aggressively threatening the militia.
Most manifestants prefered to not discuss their grievances with the Socialist Youth Union representative, most of the time being redirected towards the union leaders. Some, though, expressed their predicament with the precarious working conditions, the deteriorated work equipment which not only threatens the worker’s safety but also the passengers, the low salary, the lack of resting days, most of the working consecutive weeks with long shifts. Among them was Paul, a transportation maintenance worker, who despite his recent surgery, came there to show solidarity with his comrades. This true worker showcased in the discussions a high degree of class conscious, he called the transition period of the last decades “the neoliberal dictatorship”, described how despite all its problems the pre-89 regime had better conditions for the working class, and was aware of the danger of the harmful politicisation of the worker’s movement. At some point he brought Lenin into the conversation, being quite pessimistic of the possibility of such a character rising in this historical context, a context which becomes more and more exploitative for the average worker. Another worker, Bogdan, a bus driver, freshly unemployed, was wearing around his neck a plake with the message “abusively fired”, the reason behind his firing being that he was not present at his workplace for 6 days because he joined his comrades to strike in January, despite his clean work record of 28 years. He described several similar cases calling the action of the Crit president an illegal collective lay off and was adamant in his conviction that he will win legally. He added that the new substitutes were on a fixed 6 months contract, a fact that implies the lack of confidence with their decision and the degrading power of the patrons compared to the increasing power of the worker’s movement.
The ability to strike is an essential fact of a functioning democracy, a fact forgotten by the political elites which constrained such manifestation again and again by passing laws against them. The very common accusation of illegality just illustrates the inability or hypocrisy to understand that the current Constitutional State it’s just a mediator for the class conflicts, either for the capitalist to discipline the labour force, or for some factions in the capitalist elites to gain advantages over others. As one of the few outspoken leftist journalists in Romania, Costi Rogozanu, said “The workers bowed their heads for 30 years, docile, for the capitalist dream to become a reality. Have a look at this fried fish dream in Bucharest. No water, no pipes, neighbourhoods constructed moronically by investors, stifling with small cars, apartment heating, torned down public transport. The newfangled Federative Union represents over 30000 workers from the domain of public services, with people all across Romania. The Bucharest Transportation Syndicate has over 9000 members out of 11200 workers. The neoliberal lie is stumbling again and again and such outburst of the working class will become more and more visible and more and more potent. The mass firing of the 222 workers is nothing more than a failed attempt to break the syndicalist movement, to intimate the workers, despite the fact the director’s own mouth said that they lack personnel. The opportunism of the AUR party is nothing more than the reappropriation of the worker’s movement for personal political interests, in the best scenario leading up to a bourgeoisie coup d’etat with mild improvement of working conditions, which will erode again as it always does. These mass movements will increase in amplitude and an envirogated socialist movement is necessary to oppose the reactionary forces and for empowering the working class in an equitable and sustainable future for all.
